Stephen Rowe joined Tulane University from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he completed his PhD in Accountancy in 2013. His current research focuses on how individual behavior and financial reporting influence auditor and investor judgment under uncertainty, and utilizes both experimental and archival methods. Stephen teaches auditing, a course that provides students an introduction to assurance and an understanding of the structure and procedures performed in a financial statement audit. He has also taught introductory financial accounting and various financial accounting topics to auditing and business professionals. Prior to his academic career, Stephen spent 9 years working in industry and continues to maintain an active CPA license in Washington. Most recently, he worked at KPMG managing audits of banking and financial services companies. Prior to joining KPMG, he worked in commercial banking and at a smaller accounting firm. Stephen has received numerous awards and recognition for his teaching and professional accomplishments. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, golfing and spending time with his wife and four boys.
