Scott Mitchell was hired by Tulane University in September 2007 and currently serves as assistant athletics director for business. He has also been an adjunct faculty member in the A.B. Freeman School of Business since August of 2015.
Mitchell was promoted into his current title in April 2015 after six years as assistant athletics director for business service, game operations and event management - a position he began in September of 2008. He was initially hired by Tulane as director of game operations and event management in 2007.
Prior to his arrival in New Orleans, Mitchell was director of facilities and game operations at the University of North Alabama from 2004 to 2007. He also worked as coordinator of outdoor programs, adjunct faculty and a graduate assistant in athletic facilities during his tenure.
A Fort Payne, Alabama, native, Mitchell earned his bachelor’s degree from North Alabama in 2002 before completing an MBA at his alma mater in 2004. He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
In 2018, Mitchell earned his certification as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
